“Friday The 13th” was filmed at an actual camp, and people kept scaring campers away. Camp Crystal Lake might be fictional, but it was shot in a fully-functional summer camp. Because of “Friday The 13th”, people used to scare children away from the camp to the point that the Camp Nobebosco website used to have a disclaimer against using the film to scare kids.
