It’s National Pecan Pie Day! For those not familiar with this pie, it is a pie of pecan nuts mixed with filling of eggs, butter and sugar. Variations may include white, or brown sugar, cane syrup, or honey. It is normally served during Thanksgiving or Christmas.

An interesting fact is people can date back pecan pie recipes all the way back to the 1890s with the first recpie resembling a pecan pie published in 1898 in St. Louis. Those older recipes for pecan pie used sweeteners like molasses, or dark sugar-based syrup since corn syrup wasn’t yet invented.

Some people lie more than others, but research shows that lying through the population is uneven. There is a large majority of so called “everyday liars” and a small minority of “prolific liars”.

Research in London found that 9.7 percent of people were prolific liars. They averaged 6.32 little white lies per day and 2.86 big lies per day, compared with an average of 1.16 daily white lies and .15 daily big lies (which averages to about once a week) by the majority group of everyday liars. Overall, this means the prolific liars tell an average of 19 big lies for every single big lie by the everyday liars.

After passing their driving test, it takes someone just 10 weeks to become a bad driver. A study of 2,000 car owners found the average new road user lets bad habits creep in less than three months after getting their driver’s license.

The two things we do almost immediately are not holding the steering wheel in the correct position and failing to check our mirrors every time we make a lane change. That said, only 40 percent of women and 32 percent of men think they have bad driving habits.
