In looking into why the King of Hearts does not have a moustache, a few other things were discovered. He is the only king bearing a sword behind his head, therefore he is commonly referred to as the “suicide king”. There are a number of theories as to why he does not have a moustache, and why his sword is like it is. The most commonly accepted theory is that they were 16th century printing errors that stuck.
