Microsoft turns 50 this year.

The company was founded on April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. The company was originally named “Micro-Soft”, a combination of “microcomputer” and “software”. The hyphen was dropped in 1976.

Microsoft went public on March 13th, 1986. Its initial public offering (IPO) created three billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires among employees.

It’s National Cordon Bleu Day!

The traditional cordon bleu is a dish of breaded chicken stuffed with ham and cheese. Other variations include veal along with other types of cheese and ham.

Cordon bleu translates to “blue ribbon” in French and historically referred to the blue ribbon worn by members of the French Order of the Holy Spirit, and symbol of excellence, which is why the term is now associated with high-quality food and the renowned Le Cordon Bleu cooking schools.

Well, using the standard 12-ounce pop, or beer cans that are rinsed and dry, the consesus is that it takes roughly 32 to 35 cans to make a pound. There is no exact number, because there are variances by brand.

It’s National “Something on a Stick” Day.

The corndog is undoubtedly one of America’s most known stick foods, so well-loved that there’s even a National Corndog Day that just past on March 22nd. It’s a staple item at state fairs, carnivals and classic American eateries like Nathan’s Famous – so it’s only fitting we start with it.
