Northwest Iowa — A reminder that early and absentee voting is now underway for the November 4th city and school elections throughout Iowa. Early voting started on Wednesday and continues through November 3rd. You can vote early in person at your county auditor’s office. The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voters need to have their driver’s license with them when they go to vote. You need to fill out an official absentee ballot request form. The workers at the auditor’s office will make sure that your address is correct on your driver’s license. If it is not, you’ll need to present another form of identification, like a piece of mail addressed to you at your current address, along with your driver’s license.
Time is quickly winding down for those wanting to vote by mail. This coming Monday, October 20th, is the last day they can mail out ballots. The mail-out ballots need to be requested on an official form, too, which won’t get to them before the deadline if you want the ballot mailed out and haven’t mailed your request form yet. If that’s the case, you can submit your form at the auditor’s office on Monday, and then they can mail it out. But again, Monday is the last day ballots can be mailed. You can vote at the auditor’s office, however, until the day before election day. Again, election day is Tuesday, November 4th.
