AgState Names New Chief Operating Officer

Sheldon, Iowa — AgState, the company created last fall by the merger of Alceco/Ag Partners and First Cooperative Association, has announced the hiring of a new Chief Operating Officer.

According to the company, Marc Mears is joining the AgState team as their new COO. AgState says Mears previously served as Cargill’s Vice President of Grain, Cotton and Crop Inputs for North America. In addition, he has served on AgState’s board of directors in the past.

Mears graduated from Texas A & M University and currently serves as a member of the External Advisory Committee to the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A & M.

AgState says Mears will increase AgState’s ability to better meet the needs of Northwest Iowa farmers through its grain and agronomy facilities while developing a strong safety culture among the newly merged teams.

The company began operating under the AgState name on January 17th of this year, following the merger, which was completed in September of last year.
