Brazil plants 2nd corn crop after disappointing soybean season

IARN — As we get ready to get into the fields, that means that Brazil is ready to get out of theirs for the time being. But don’t worry, they are gearing up for the second season in the warmer climates of the country. As we look at how the growing season was for the Brazilians, one word comes to mind in the soybean arena, and that is “disappointing.”

Just like in the U.S., Brazilian farmers are putting last season behind them, and gearing up for the next one. Farmers all over the globe must have a short memory when it comes to things they couldn’t anticipate, like the weather.

Dr. Michael Cordonnier is an agronomist with Soybean and Corn Advisor Inc. He says that even after the less than stellar turnout for soybeans, the second planting of corn has a good start.
