Whether you’ve put your kids through college or gone through it yourself, it’s a widely known fact that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process can be very stressful. Unfortunately, it looks like that process could now create even more of a financial burden for farming families with the passing of some new legislation. Dustin Sherer, Director of Government Affairs for the American Farm Bureau, said an important change to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid came in an omnibus bill that passed at the end of 2023.
