Northwest Iowa — Crops are still looking pretty good, but they are becoming a little bit of a concern to one area agronomist.
Leah Ten Napel, extension field agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach tells us more.
She says pests continue to be an issue in some fields. The problem is, it’s no longer economically feasible to treat pests at this late stage in the game, says Ten Napel.
She says grasshoppers have been an issue almost all growing season, which is common in drought years. She says they’re getting a little better now.
Ten Napel tells us farmers are trying to pin down what pest is causing patches of premature death in soybeans.
She also has some advice for those who are cutting corn for silage.
