Expert: Harvest Continues, Wrapping Up In Some Areas

Northwest Iowa — Rains could slow the pace, but harvest continues in northwest Iowa.

Last week we talked to Iowa State University Extension agronomist Joel De Jong. This week we talked to his colleague from the east, Gentry Sorenson, who recently took over the position from Paul Kassel.

Sorenson gives us a harvest update.

He says yields have been a mixed bag, depending on how much rainfall was received in the area.

According to Gentry, the rains seem to have been more spotty than in a normal year. If an area missed some rains, it seemed like they missed a lot of rains. And others turned out OK.

Gentry is the crop field specialist for Dickinson, Clay, Buena Vista, Emmet, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Kossuth, Winnebago, and Hancock counties.
