IRFA and IBB talk about Biofuels Access bill

IARN — Yesterday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was in Prairie City, Iowa as she signed the Biofuels Access bill, with the overwhelming support from the Iowa Legislature. This bill will have an enormous impact on Iowan consumers as we wrangle those high gas prices in attempts to knock them down. It will heighten consumer access to E15 ethanol throughout the state of Iowa, and it will encourage higher blends of biodiesel through incentive-based programs. Although this is a temporary fix to a long-term problem, Reynolds is excited to see the impact this will have on our Iowan consumers and environment.

After the event, I had the chance to interview Iowa Renewable Fuels Associate Executive Director Monte Shaw about his feelings on the newly passed bill and what that would mean for consumers. Shaw also touched on our environmental emissions impact and the greater good this could do for Iowa.
