Northwest Iowa — The latest Iowa crop report shows northwest Iowa crops keep moving toward maturity, but only about a third of cropland has adequate moisture.

Here in northwest Iowa, stats say that there were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork. Moisture-wise, we’re quite a bit drier up here than the average, with 25 percent of the cropland being rated very short, and 39 percent short. Only 33 percent was adequate, with three percent surplus. Underground, 28 percent of subsoil moisture was very short, 36 percent was short, 33 percent was adequate, and three percent was surplus.
