IARN — The team at Pig Improvement Company (PIC) met with producers at the 2022 Iowa Pork Congress about their newest wean-to-finish digital tool.
GrowQuest is a free tool that provides recommendations for operations on the five cornerstones of wean-to-finish productivity to help producers improve feed efficiency, increase growth rate, and ultimately achieve more full value pigs. In three clicks or less, users will have access to the wean-to-finish information they’re seeking. Isaiah Spath is a member of PIC’s product validation and wean-to-finish technical services team that serves customers throughout the Midwest.
“You can find our new GrowQuest tool that helps our wean-to-finish customers navigate through some challenges, or find opportunities within their system to really improve,” Spath told IARN. “And then also we’ve got new training videos available for those customers to enhance their production at the sow farm level.”
Spath says the five cornerstones of wean-to-finish productivity identified in the GrowQuest tool are: Quality Weaned Pig, Nutrient Intake, Health Status, Marketing Strategy and Pig Husbandry.
“For the wean-to-finish customers, as we face labor challenges in the industry, we want those pigs to be off to a great start. Focusing on that early pig care we want those pigs to be thrifty, health stable, and when they get weaned to perform on the farm for the producer. And so having tools available to help those customers manage those pigs, but then also have a pig that is extremely high performing and can make them the most money in their pocket.”
GrowQuest is desktop, tablet and mobile-friendly for easy access from anywhere. Learn more about PIC’s goals for 2022 by visiting the Iowa Agribusiness Radio Network.
