IARN — In the past few months, we have seen the destabilization of the supply chain in the United States. Raw materials and consumer goods of all types are sitting in containers waiting to dock or waiting to be unloaded. The truck fleet is low, and trains are backlogged from sea to shining sea. As the holidays approach, customers aren’t sure if the supplies they need for dinners or the gifts they want to give will be on the shelves.
Congress is also taking notice of these disruptions, and they are looking for answers on what the Biden Administration plans to do about it. Agriculture is just one of the industries facing these issues, and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst has called on United States Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to testify to the Senate Ag Committee on what is being done to remedy the situation.
