USDA proposes changes to dairy benefits in WIC program

IARN — If you have had children in the past 20 years or more, you are probably familiar with The Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) program and their vouchers. These vouchers help provide proper nutrition for families without it being an economical burden. Many of these families cannot afford to purchase higher quality and more nutritious meals for themselves and their young children. These vouchers help cover fruits, vegetables, juices, grains, and dairy.

Now the USDA is proposing to cut funding for dairy products, especially on milk.

Matt Herrick is the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications for the International Dairy Foods Association. He talks about the USDA proposal. A proposal for which there is no real reason.
