Washington, DC — The U.S. Senate has overwhelmingly approved the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement, known as USMCA.
The vote is said to have been 89-10 in favor. When it was finally brought up last month after being signed by the President over a year ago, the House also passed it in a lopsided bipartisan fashion, 385-41.
The agreement now needs to be signed by the President again to become official.
Iowa US Senator Joni Ernst says, “The USMCA will have a tremendous impact on Iowa’s economy, given that we trade more goods with Mexico and Canada than we do with our next 27 trading partners combined. I’m excited about the market opportunities and predictability this trade agreement will bring to hardworking Americans across the country.
