Primghar, Iowa– An Alta man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Primghar on Monday, February 3, 2025.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 1:00 p.m., 71-year-old Ricky Mason of Alta was driving a 2024 GMC SUV southbound on South Hayes Avenue, in Primghar. They tell us that 50-year-old Jennifer Haafke of Sheldon was westbound on 3rd Street Southeast in a 2013 Ford SUV.
The report says that Mason stated he did not see or remember stopping at the posted stop sign at the intersection. Haafke stated she did not see Mason until the vehicle was right in front of her and she struck it.
The Paullina Ambulance took Mason to Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospital.
Mason’s GMC SUV sustained $5000 in damages, and Haafke’s Ford SUV also sustained $5000 in damages, which was enough to total that vehicle.
Mason was charged with failure to obey stop sign and yield right of way. Haafke was charged with no insurance — accident related and first offense operating while intoxicated.
