Sheldon, Iowa — It’s time for Sheldon’s annual dog day at the pool. And this year it’s a fundraiser — for a special dog in the community.
Called the “2025 Sheldon Doggie Dip,” the event will be at the Sheldon Outdoor Aquatic Center this Sunday, August 24th. Dogs will have a chance to swim, play, and socialize from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker says last year a dog jumped off the diving board. He says there’s no video of it, so he hopes for a repeat performance.
This year, the event will be a fundraiser — wtih all proceeds being donated to Sheldon Police K9 Balin.
Those running the Doggie Dip tell us dogs have to be spayed or neutered and must be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Only dogs and their owners may be in the water. All dogs must be friendly to other dogs and to people. Dogs have to be leashed when not in the water. Owners are in charge of picking up their dog’s waste.
