Archer Firefighters Respond To Grove Fire Sunday Night

Archer, Iowa — The Archer Fire Department was called out for a fire on Sunday, April 5, 2026, near Archer.

According to Archer Fire Chief Brian Vollink, at about 7:15 p.m., firefighters were called to the report of a grove on fire at 3967 Oak Hill Avenue, two miles south, two west, and a little over a half south of Archer.

The chief says the farmer was trying to burn a pile of trees, but the wind changed on him, and some embers got into the grove and got to another pile, which was close to the house.

Vollink says no injuries were reported and that the damage was limited.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
