Primghar, Iowa– An Archer teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Primghar on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 11:20 a.m., 15-year-old Kyle Van Wechel of Archer was driving a 2004 Pontiac westbound on 400th Street, a mile south and four west of Primghar.
The report says that Van Wechel lost control of the vehicle and attempted to correct several times before sliding into the north ditch, striking and knocking down a utility pole belonging to Northwest REC.
The Primghar Ambulance took Van Wechel to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Van Wechel’s Pontiac sustained $1000 in damages and was considered totaled. The utility pole was valued at $1500.
He was charged with failure to maintain control.
