Sheldon, Iowa — We’re just done with National Farm Safety and Health Week, and Sheldon High School FFA students are helping area second graders to get the message.
They held a farm safety day on Tuesday at the Crossroads Pavilion in Sheldon. Normally the event is at the Sheldon High School, but due to ongoing construction, it was moved to the Pavilion building.
Kolton Roos with the Sheldon FFA chapter tells us what they did.
Roos says they tell the kids to stay away from a PTO that’s running, as PTO shafts can injure and kill. Roos tells us it takes a lot of work to put the Farm Safety Day together.
While FFA used to stand for Future Farmers of America many years ago, it is now only “FFA.” Roos says FFA is for everyone.
Farm Safety day is taught by the Sheldon FFA and sponsored by Sanford Sheldon and the Sheldon Community School District.
