Ashton Man Arrested After He Allegedly Punched Sanford Sheldon Nurse

Sheldon, Iowa — An Ashton man has been arrested on felony assault charges in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 69-year-old David Kruger of Ashton is accused of punching a nurse at the Sheldon hospital. He was arrested on Tuesday.

In his statement, the officer says that he was dispatched to Sanford Sheldon Hospital for a patient that was being combative. When the officer arrived, he says Kruger began to scream for several seconds. After Kruger was placed on his back, he allegedly punched the nurse in the nose with a closed fist.

Kruger was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations, with intent to injure, a class D felony. If convicted, Kruger could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charge on January 16th.

At last report, Kruger remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar.
