Ashton, Iowa– An Ashton man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Ashton on Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 3:50 p.m., 58-year-old Jack Crowl of Ashton was driving a Kubota tractor, pulling two wagons full of corn northbound on Highway 60, near 240th Street, at the south Ashton intersection. They tell us that 39-year-old Heath Koerselman of Ashton was also northbound on 60 in a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup.
The report says that Koerselman failed to see the wagons and tractor and rear-ended them. The wagons did have flashers and a slow-moving triangle attached.
Koerselman was transported to Sanford Sheldon Hospital by the Ashton Ambulance squad.
The tractor and the pickup each sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage. In the case of the pickup, it was enough to total the vehicle, according to the report.
Koerselman was charged with following too closely.
The Ashton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
