Ashton, Iowa– An Ashton woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Ashton on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:50 p.m., 19-year-old Jayden Umbach of Ashton was driving a 2013 Mazda southbound on Olive Avenue, a mile east of Ashton near the Ashton Pits.
The report says that she failed to negotiate the curve. The Mazda left the roadway and collided with the south embankment of 230th Street.
Umbach was removed from the vehicle and the Sibley Ambulance took her to Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital in Sibley.
Umbach’s Mazda sustained $8000 in damages.
The Ashton Fire Department and Ashton ACES assisted at the scene.
