Ash Creek, Minnesota — A hunter riding an ATV has died as a result of an apparent single-vehicle accident, just north of our area.
The Rock County, Minnesota Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, their office received a 911 call from an individual reporting a possible fatal crash involving an ATV while hunting. The location of the call was two and a half miles north of the Minnesota-Iowa border along the Rock River near Ash Creek. That’s about six and a half miles north of Rock Rapids.
The caller stated they were in the middle of a pasture and had found the victim and his ATV. The Sheriff’s Office, Rock County Ambulance, Hills Fire Department, and the Luverne Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities determined the male individual was deceased. According to family reports, the male individual left his residence earlier in the morning to go deer hunting. He was riding his ATV from the roadway to his hunting stand. It had appeared that he had tipped over his ATV along an embankment, and it came to rest on top of him.
The name of the party involved in the crash has not been released to give the family the opportunity to notify their loved ones.
