Beresford Woman Arrested On Warrant For Felony Drug Charge After Lester Area Stop

Lester, Iowa — A Beresford, South Dakota woman has been arrested on a warrant for a felony drug charge after a traffic stop near Lester about two and a half months ago.

Thirty-eight-year-old Sarah Lattemore of Beresford was arrested on a warrant last Tuesday after being accused of possessing methamphetamine in a quantity large enough to require a drug tax stamp, which she allegedly did not have. The criminal complaint against her was filed by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office with the county clerk of court’s office.

In his statement, the deputy says Lattemore’s vehicle was stopped for a speeding violation. During the stop, she consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, the deputy says he found a controlled substance identified as methamphetamine, weighing 8.1 grams, along with drug paraphernalia. He says the meth did not have the required drug tax stamp affixed. The substance was submitted to the DCI laboratory for testing, which confirmed the identity and weight of the
methamphetamine.

Lattemore was charged with drug tax stamp violation, a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison. She also faces a misdemeanor count of possession of cocaine.

No court dates have yet been set in the case.

At last report, Lattemore remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $6000 bond.
