Sheldon, Iowa — A dump truck and two boats were destroyed in a fire on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Sheldon.
According to Assistant Sheldon Fire Chief Chuck Ball, at about 5:35 a.m., the Sheldon Fire Company was called to the report of a fire on the north side of Southwest Wholesale RV. But when they got there, they found that the fire was actually on the Farmers Market Concrete and Excavation property at 3369 Runger Street, northwest of the Highways 60 and 18 interchange.
The chief says the fire department saw the truck and boats on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.
Assistant Chief Ball says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be something electrical on the dump truck.
Assistant Chief Ball reports that the boats and the truck were totaled in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded to the fire were on-scene for about an hour.
