Boyden Woman Faces Felony OWI Charge

Boyden, Iowa — A Boyden woman has been arrested on a felony OWI charge.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 57-year-old Terry Anne Tiedeman of Boyden is accused of driving under the influence for the third or subsequent time. She was arrested last week.

In his statement, the deputy says he encountered Tiedeman driving around Boyden looking for her lost dog. For a number of reasons, the deputy believed she was under the influence. Her preliminary breath sample was well under the legal limit at 0.006, but he says her level of impairment was inconsistent with that number. He says Tiedeman refused to perform a drug influence evaluation with a drug recognition expert and refused to provide a urine sample for testing.

She was charged with operating under the influence. Since this would be a third or subsequent conviction, this time it was a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.

No court dates have been set yet in the case.

Tiedeman was booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, and was released the same day.
