Arnolds Park, Iowa (KUOO) — With one member absent, the Arnolds Park City Council voted 4-0 Wednesday evening to accept a recommendation from the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission to no longer allow commercial, or C3 Docks, in residential areas.
City official Ron Walker says it stems from an application the city received for a dock on Lower Gar. The property is 110 feet wide, with a 10‑foot easement along the side and another 10‑foot easement across the lakeshore, yet the proposal included 11 hoists.
Walker described the setup as “keyholing.”
Under the change, commercial docks previously approved in residential areas can remain, but any new requests won’t be allowed. Existing ones will no longer be valid once the property is sold or other changes are made.
