Commercial motor vehicle accident northwest of Sioux Center sends one to hospital

Sioux Center – A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital after an accident three miles northwest of Sioux Center

The Sioux County Sheriff’s office tells us that Mary Ver Burg, age 55 of Rock Valley, was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Garfield Ave. Kellie Bork, age 55 of Sioux Center, was driving a 2015 Peterbilt 579 semi-tractor pulling a tank trailer northbound on Garfield Ave. behind Ver Burg. Bork began passing Ver Burg at the same time Ver Burg attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her.

To avoid striking Ver Burg, Bork swerved, lost control of the commercial motor vehicle and entered the west ditch.

Bork was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of his injuries. The Peterbilt and trailer sustained approximately $225,000 in damage. The sheriff’s office was assisted by Sioux Center Fire, Sioux Center Ambulance and the Iowa State Patrol and the accident remains under investigation.
