Congressman Randy Feenstra Visits Maintainer Corporation In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — This area’s congressman visited our part of northwest Iowa on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Congressman Randy Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, visited Maintainer Corporation in Sheldon as part of his biannual 36-County Tour. Feenstra toured the new showroom and training facility, which both opened in January, as well as the production floor.

Maintainer officials tell us the training facility includes virtual painting and welding and allows employees to learn new skills and refine existing knowledge.

During his time at Maintainer Corp., which employs 250 people, Feenstra discussed his work on the House Ways and Means Committee to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and advance pro-growth tax policies. Feenstra says those policies include 100% bonus depreciation, immediate R&D expensing, and interest deductibility to lower the cost of capital investments and support businesses, job creators, and local manufacturers.

In addition to these provisions, the extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act would lock in the 20% tax cut on qualified business income for small businesses, maintain the doubled standard deduction and income tax cuts for workers, protect the doubled child tax credit for families, and keep in place the higher death tax exemption threshold for farmers and business owners, says Feenstra.

In years past, Feenstra has traveled to Sheldon to celebrate the city’s connection to the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System, visit students and teachers at Sheldon Middle School, attend Purple Heart Day ceremonies, chat with residents at Fieldcrest Senior Living Community, and meet with members of Sheldon Kiwanis and the Sheldon Chamber of Commerce. Feenstra has also held a town hall to discuss the Farm Bill and toured the Associated Milk Producers Inc. facility, both in Sanborn.

Feenstra’s staff say he can be reached online at Feenstra.House.Gov or by phone at 202-225-4426.
