Conquering Cancer For O’Brien County Invites You To Evening Of Remembrance

Sheldon, Iowa — The group “Conquering Cancer For O’Brien County” got its start a few years ago, when the local American Cancer Society severed ties with the national organization.

As such, the group is raising money in different ways, and the money helps cancer patients and cancer treatment centers around our area.

Sheryl Storm with Conquering Cancer For O’Brien County tells us about one of their fundraisers.

The beautiful photos on the calendar are donated by Dean Hansen.

Pam Thornton with the group tells us why they separated from the national organization.

Thornton says they’ve got an event coming up on October 1st.

She tells us more about the event, which they hope will become an annual event.

Thornton says they’d like to know if you’re coming so they know how many to plan for. So if you’d like to go, you can call or text 712-261-1914.

Thornton tells us what to expect besides a delicious catered meal.

The group also has a Facebook page for more information. Just got to Facebook and search for Conquering Cancer 4 O’Brien County.

Storm and Thornton made their comments this week on the KIWA Talk of the Town Program, which can be heard on weekday mornings at 8:30 on KIWA-FM 105.3.
