Des Moines School Board Chair Drops Out Of US Senate Race

Des Moines, Iowa (RI) — The woman who chairs the Des Moines School Board is dropping out of the race for the US Senate.

Jackie Norris was seeking the Democratic nomination to run for the US Senate, but says the arrest of former Des Moines Schools Superintendent Ian Robinson by ICE agents put the school board, the community, and her personally in the crosshairs of what she calls vicious and coordinated attacks.

Norris says the “superintendent crisis” makes it clear she needs to focus on the work at hand for the school board and will no longer be a candidate for the US Senate.
