Spirit Lake, Iowa — If you’re a walleye angler, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has a reminder for you.
The DNR is reminding anglers the walleye fishing season on Big Spirit Lake, and East and West Lakes Okoboji is open through February 14th. The season will then close on those lakes and will reopen on May 3rd, Walleye Weekend.
The DNR says those are the only lakes in Iowa that have a closed season for walleye, and the off-season is during the walleyes’ spawning time.
