Doon, Iowa — The Doon Fire Department was called out on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
According to Doon Fire Chief Adam Van Engen, at about 3:50 p.m., the Doon Fire Department was called to a fire call at 2989 250th Street, about a mile and a half east of Doon’s north side.
The chief says the fire department saw a piece of equipment with feed pellets smoldering as they approached the scene. He says they took the bottom off the piece of equipment and used a wheelbarrow to take the smoldering pellets outside.
Van Engen says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be a malfunction in the machine.
Chief Van Engen reports that there was no damage.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour.
