Sheldon, Iowa — If you have an interest in Sheldon’s downtown, you’ll probably want to attend an open forum this Tuesday night.
City of Sheldon and SCDC officials say the Iowa Department of Economic Development conducted a “downtown walk around” on October 16th. They say the report that stemmed from that visit has been received, and the SCDC would like to share those findings with downtown stakeholders as well as the general public.
On Tuesday evening, December 2nd, at 5:30, the SCDC will host a 60-minute public forum on the second floor of the Community Services Center. SCDC representatives will provide an overview of the IDEA downtown assessment report, while also allowing time for public comments and feedback. Paper copies of the full report will be made available. Light hours d’oeuvres will be provided at the meeting.
SCDC officials say they know December is a busy time for many, but they say they did not want to delay sharing the report either. If Tuesday’s meeting does not work for you, the SCDC office would be happy to schedule a follow-up meeting to discuss the IDEA report.
City Manager Sam Kooiker says the forum is open to the public, and a quorum of the City Council may be present. No formal action by the Sheldon City Council will occur at this meeting, though. If you have questions, you can contact the SCDC or the City of Sheldon.
