Ireton, Iowa — A single‑vehicle crash on an icy stretch of 470th Street sent an Ireton woman to the hospital early this (Wednesday) morning.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 7:52 a.m. about two miles west of Ireton.
Deputies say 18‑year‑old Alyssa Eden of Ireton was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on 470th Street and attempted to pass another vehicle. Eden lost control on the ice‑covered roadway, entered the south ditch, and rolled the vehicle.
Ireton Ambulance transported Eden to Hawarden Regional Healthcare for initial treatment. She was later airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls for further care. No additional information on her condition was released.
Deputies say the Pontiac sustained an estimated $2,500 in damage. Eden was cited on a charge of failing to maintain control.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ireton Fire Department and Ireton Ambulance.
