Northwest Iowa — Some driving hazards exist year-round, 24/7. But some — such as tall corn at rural intersections — are a seasonal threat.
Tall corn at intersections exists about half of the year — basically from June through perhaps early November. We talked with Sioux County Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst recently.
He says there is a video on their website showing just how difficult it is to see if there is a car coming from the side.
Van Voorst says the corn is just too tall to approach the intersections in an unsafe manner.
Van Voorst made his comments this Thursday morning on the KIWA Talk of the Town Program, which can be heard on weekday mornings at 8:30 on KIWA-FM 105.3. We also post a podcast of every Talk of The Town Program, and you can find those by clicking here.
The video referred to in this story may be viewed on the Sioux County Sheriff’s Facebook page.
