Hull, Iowa — This past summer, when many candidates were announcing their candidacy for governor — and for the Fourth District US House Seat held by Congressman Randy Feenstra from Hull, Feenstra told people he would soon announce his campaign for Governor.
Feenstra was quoted as telling people that he wanted to wait until summer and the vacation season was over. School started, September wrapped up, and now we’re most of the way through October, without an official announcement from Congressman — and presumed Iowa gubernatorial candidate, Randy Feenstra.
We had a chance to talk to Feenstra recently and posed the question — when ARE you going to officially announce your run for governor? Here’s what he had to say.
Of course, we weren’t able to pin Feenstra down to an exact date. He didn’t say whether the government would have to be open for him to make an announcement, but he is clearly not a fan of the shutdown.
He gives us his view on what happened.
Feenstra was elected to Congress in 2020 and began serving in January 2021. Governor Kim Reynolds announced in April of this year that she would not run again.
