Fire Destroys Boyden Home

Boyden, Iowa — A home in Boyden was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

The Sioux County Communications Center tells us they received a report of a residential fire that occurred at 803 Webb Street in Boyden at about 8:55 p.m.

The Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance were dispatched to the location. We are told mutual aid was requested from the Hull Fire Department and Sheldon Fire Company.

One person was inside the home when the fire started, but authorities tell us the person was able to safely get outside, and was transported by Boyden Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for precautionary reasons.

The home is considered a total loss, and damage was estimated in excess of $60,000, according to authorities.

In addition to the above fire departments, Sioux County Emergency Management, the American Red Cross, the Iowa State Patrol and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office all assisted with the response to the fire call.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Boyden Fire Chief.
