Rock Rapids, Iowa — An older vehicle was lost in a fire near Rock Rapids on Tuesday, April 1, 2025..
According to Rock Rapids Fire Chief Ed Reck, at about 4:30 p.m., the Rock Rapids Fire Department was called to the report of a car on fire at 1332 Garfield Avenue, a mile west of Rock Rapids, two north, two west, and a little back south.
Firefighters found the car heavily ablaze. They used water and foam to suppress the fire. The vehicle was a total loss, and the fire’s origin remains undetermined. Fortunately, the wind direction prevented the fire from damaging a nearby barn, and no injuries were reported. The fire department was on scene for roughly half an hour.
