Four-Day Party In Ringsted To Mark Town’s 125th Year Of Existence

Ringsted, Iowa — The northwest Iowa community of Ringsted is throwing itself a birthday party this weekend. Ringsted was founded 125 years ago. Diane Nelson, co-chair of the event planning committee, says on Saturday morning, there will be a Quilts of Valor presentation.

On Sunday morning, there will be a community church service.

There will also be a parade in Ringsted and an all-school reunion. Ringsted merged with the Armstrong School District in 1979 and has been part of the North Union School district for the past decade. The US Census shows 365 people were living in Ringsted in 2020. The town was named after Ringsted, Denmark — the hometown of a man who settled in the area in the 1890s.
