Four From Worthington Taken To Hospital After Crash By Ocheyedan

Ocheyedan, Iowa — Four people from Worthington (MN) were taken to a hospital after a crash near Ocheyedan on Monday, September 22nd.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office tells us that at about 5:45 p.m., 48-year-old Rey Torres Romero of Worthington was driving a 2005 Ford F150 pickup registered to Isela Esmeralda Ayala of Worthington, westbound on Highway 9 near Truman Avenue (that’s the road that goes south from the highway into Ocheyedan).

The deputy says Torres Romero fell asleep and the F150 rolled into in the south ditch.

The Sibley ambulance took Torres Romero and three passengers, 42-year-old Jose Antoni Reyes, 32-year-old Erlin Jose Martinez and 35-year-old Luz Marina Mejia Miranda, all of Worthington, to the Osceola Regional Health Center. His passengers’ injuries were described as “non-incapacitating,” while the report called Torres Romero’s injuries “incapacitating.”

The pickup sustained an estimated $7,500 in damage.

Torres Romero was cited on charges of no valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control.

The Ocheyedan Ambulance Squad and the Ocheyedan Fire Department assisted at the scene.
