Grassley Reintroduces Bills To Increase Use Of Biofuels In Aviation And Support AM Radio

Washington, DC — Senator Chuck Grassley, along with some of his colleagues in the US Senate have reintroduced a couple of bills.

In a move to boost sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, along with a bipartisan group of senators, has reintroduced the Farm to Fly Act. This legislation aims to accelerate SAF development through existing USDA programs, benefiting both the environment and American farmers.

Grassley emphasized the economic and environmental benefits of homegrown biofuels, stating that the Farm to Fly Act will expand markets for farmers and enhance American energy production. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas highlighted the potential of SAF to provide new markets for farmers and increase domestic energy security.

Meanwhile, Grassley joined Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) to reintroduce the bipartisan AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. The legislation would direct the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to require automakers to maintain AM broadcast radio in their new vehicles at no additional charge.

Grassley says, “AM radio is the backbone of our emergency alert system, especially for tens of millions of Americans in rural areas. It’s been a part of our daily commutes and road trips for decades. Iowans rely on AM radio to catch up on local news, weather and commodity and livestock markets, as well as to hear competing viewpoints about the important issues of the day. The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act will protect this critical resource, and I urge my colleagues to support this legislation.”
