Hawarden Man Arrested On Sexual Exploitation Charge In Rock Rapids

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Hawarden man has been arrested on a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor in Rock Rapids.

We’re told the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has charged 24-year-old Dillon Anderson of Hawarden with the crime. According to the criminal complaint, Anderson allegedly tried to solicit nude photos from someone he believed was 14 years old. He was arrested on Friday at Emma Sater Park in Rock Rapids when he found out he was actually talking to a law enforcement officer.

In his statement, the deputy says Anderson believed he was talking to the minor on the minor’s school laptop.

Anderson was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a class B felony. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison. He is also charged with grooming and enticing a minor under 16, which are both class D felonies, which could get him five years in prison, each, if convicted.

He faces an initial hearing on March 24th.

At last report, Anderson remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
