Hawarden Native Adam Gregg Is No Longer Iowa’s Lt. Governor

Des Moines, Iowa — Hawarden native Adam Gregg is no longer Iowa’s lieutenant governor. Governor Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday afternoon that Gregg had resigned and the Iowa Bankers Association announced Gregg would be the association’s next president and CEO. Gregg had been Iowa’s lieutenant governor for just over seven years. Kim Reynolds chose Gregg as her governing partner when she became governor in May of 2017.

Back on the day when Reynolds introduced Gregg as her lieutenant governor, Gregg said he still had the autograph he got as a second grader, when he met Governor Terry Branstad for the first time.

That was Adam Gregg in 2017. In a written statement released yesterday (Tuesday), Gregg said being lieutenant governor forced him to miss too much of his kids’ lives and his time in public service was ending. Gregg, who is 41 years old, grew up in Hawarden. After graduating from Central College in Pella, he got a law degree from Drake University. His first day at the Iowa Bankers Association will be October 1st and he’ll take over as president and CEO of the group in January.
