Sioux Center, Iowa — The City of Sioux Center hosted a public informational meeting this week to provide updates on the Highway 75 construction project. Led by DGR engineer Craig Lauritzen, the meeting shared promising news about the project’s progress.
Weather permitting, the goal is to reopen the next stretch of Highway 75 from 13th Street South to 9th Street South to traffic on Monday, November 18th. For those more familiar with landmarks, that is the Sioux Center Dental corner north to the stop-light at Snieder Insurance corner. The section from 9th Street South to 5th Street South is expected to resume traffic flow before Thanksgiving, contingent on upcoming weather conditions. That would be from Snieder Insurance north past the new Kroese & Kroese office building to the intersection at 5th Street, near the old Franken Manor.
Initially, only the inside lanes will be used for through traffic, as work continues on lighting, sidewalks, and street and driveway accesses in the outside lanes. The aim is to have all four lanes accessible to traffic flow before winter, with no detours or road closures during the winter months. Landscaping and turf for the medians will be completed in the spring.
The next phase of construction, from 5th Street South to 5th Street North, will begin next spring when weather allows.
