Sioux County, Iowa — A couple of parcels of land sold in Sioux County recently have brought nearly record prices per acre.

According to a representative of Zomer Company Realty and Auction in Rock Valley, the parcels sold at auction on February 27th for $29,600 per acre. As far as can be determined, the record price per acre for Iowa farmland, $30,000 per acre, was paid for a 73.19-acre farm in Sioux County in November of 2022.

The sale was for a total of 117.41 acres. One tract was 40 acres and the other was 77.41 acres. Since both are only bordered by a road on one side, 98.7 percent of the land is tillable.

The land, west of Newkirk, is in Holland Township.
