Des Moines, Iowa (RI) — The state climatologist’s report says last week was the first week since mid-June where statewide precipitation was below normal.
Climatologist Justin Glisan says parts of eastern Iowa did see above normal rainfall last week, with around five inches reported in Monticello in Jones County, and nearly 20 stations from east-central to northeast Iowa reporting at least two inches. But some stations in western Iowa had no precipitation. State precipitation for the week was eight-tenths of an inch, while the normal is just above nine tenths of an inch (.93).
