Local Organization Offering Free Airplaine Rides To Youth

Sheldon, Iowa — If your young person is at all interested in aviation, there’s a fun event coming up just for them.

Jett Korver is the president of the Sheldon Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He tells us how he himself got interested in aviation.

After some safety information on the ground, they’ll get the 15-20 minute airplane ride. Korver says the kids don’t have to take the flight lessons or the eventual written test, but that is available.

The association is hosting the Young Eagles Rally at the Sheldon Regional Airport on June 11, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM. Free airplane rides will be offered to kids ages 8-17. Parents or guardians must sign a waiver for participants.

Korver made his comments this Monday on the KIWA Talk of the Town Program, which can be heard on weekday mornings at 8:30 on KIWA-FM 105.3. We also post a podcast of every Talk of The Town Program, and you can find those by clicking here.
